I like to use salvaged or reclaimed stones for their expressive shapes, textures and marks left from previous lives. I work very directly, almost never drawing or sketching a preconceived idea to impose on a piece. Instead I like to use the given characterful qualities as inspiration and I will try to maintain them whenever possible as I add my own marks and create a new life for an old stone.
